Dutch public broadcaster AVROTROS Radar published survey findings on September 28, 2026, after questioning nearly 3,000 panel members with experience of incontinence supplies between June 23 and July 22. Around 2,000 used the products themselves; another 1,000 answered for someone they lived with or cared for. Absorbent products were involved in 94 percent of cases.
A quarter said they did not always receive or obtain reimbursement for enough supplies. Of that group, 61 percent used their supplies more sparingly. Reported problems included leakage, discomfort, skin rash, odour and reduced social activity.
Thirteen percent of all respondents had been required by their insurer to switch product or brand within the previous five years, and 59 percent of those who switched said the replacement worked less well. Among respondents sometimes receiving insufficient supplies or reimbursement, 55 percent said the gap between their needs and provision had widened over five years. The findings come from Radar’s own panel survey.
