Patos consumer office finds wide adult-diaper price differences

Brazil

The consumer-protection office in Patos, Paraíba, Brazil, reported substantial differences in diaper prices after surveying six local establishments, including pharmacies and drugstores, on August 12 and 13, 2026. Its August 14 announcement covered several brands, sizes and formats of adult and infant diapers.

For adult products, a 16-pack of TENA Pants Noturna in size P/M cost between R$51.99 and R$100.99 at the surveyed outlets. Procon described the difference as approximately 94%. The report also gave infant-product examples: an 84-pack of medium Pampers Pants ranged from R$99.90 to R$140.99, while a 60-pack of large Huggies Pants ranged from R$77.19 to R$113.99.

Procon said it conducted the survey following consumer suggestions submitted through a question box on its social-media account. The municipal announcement linked to the complete table of products, outlets and observed prices. The office noted that prices could change between the dates of the survey and publication of its findings.
