Curitiba's municipal government reported that 5,873 donated adult diapers were handed to its Social Action Foundation, FAS, on August 7, 2026. The city's new sports, leisure and youth secretary, José Antônio de Melo Filho, presented the donation to FAS president Renan de Oliveira Rodrigues. The diapers were collected through a campaign supporting older people.
Athletes, para-athletes, coaches and institutions benefiting from Curitiba's municipal sports-incentive law contributed as part of their social obligations under the programme. The city said the diapers would go to FAS facilities serving older residents and to partner social organizations.
The sports secretary described the collection as a demonstration of participants' commitment to the city and of sport's role in solidarity and citizenship. Rodrigues thanked the sports department for its continuing support, including earlier Easter, winter-clothing and Christmas-toy campaigns. The announcement places the diaper collection within a wider series of community donation activities coordinated by the department during 2026.
