ICS abstract reports TENA Identifi evaluation of 801 Dutch care residents

Netherlands Essity TENA

An abstract on the International Continence Society’s website reports an evaluation of TENA Identifi involving 801 residents across 42 Dutch long-term care and disability care organizations. The presentation is scheduled for October 8, 2026, in Sydney; the page does not state when the abstract was published.

Data were collected between July 2022 and January 2026. After three days of measurement with sensors embedded in absorbent products, an automated report guided changes to product selection and care routines. Caregivers recorded outcomes four weeks after those changes. The abstract reports a 52% reduction in average weekly leakage incidents and a 21% reduction in unnecessary product changes.

The author is affiliated with Essity Netherlands B.V., which also funded the work. The disclosure describes anonymized customer case reports, and no control group is described. The reported changes followed adjustments to both products and care routines. The abstract says outcomes varied with staff adherence and organizational readiness.
