Nordic Ecolabelling adopted generation 7.0 of its criteria for protective and absorbent hygiene products on September 30, 2025. The product group includes incontinence protection as well as baby diapers and other hygiene products.
The official criteria page identifies raw-material production as a major environmental consideration and describes requirements covering energy use, emissions and chemicals. It provides criteria documents and a version history for manufacturers and purchasers checking certification requirements.
The history also records subsequent changes: version 7.1 in October 2025 and adjustments leading to version 7.2 in 2026. Current requirements should therefore be read in the applicable version, rather than all attributed to the September 2025 adoption. Nordic Swan is a voluntary certification scheme.
