Mauritius adds adult diapers to its essential-goods subsidy programme

Mauritius

Mauritius included adult diapers in its essential-goods price subsidy from January 15, 2026. The Mauritius Revenue Authority identifies December 23, 2025 as the date the government announced this extension.

Its published schedule sets a subsidy of 50 Mauritian rupees per ten adult diapers, with a maximum pack size of 60. The scheme operates through eligible licensed or registered businesses in the supply chain, including importers, manufacturers, distributors and retailers.

This is a price-support mechanism administered through businesses, rather than a personal cash allowance for each older person. The authority’s guidance gives the announcement and start dates, but no separate original publication date for the webpage.
