Report finds adult-incontinence sales ahead of children’s diapers at two Quebec chains

Canada

CityNews Montreal reported on September 4, 2026 that adult-incontinence products were outselling children’s diapers at Jean Coutu and Brunet, using sales information obtained by Radio-Canada.

The chains did not disclose exact sales amounts. INRS professor Benoît Laplante discussed the comparison as an illustration of population ageing. The report concerns these two pharmacy chains, not the whole Quebec or Canadian retail market. It does not provide a transparent unit-versus-revenue calculation, so the comparison should not be turned into a market-size estimate or a precise sales ratio.
