Aichi announces an on-site used-diaper recycling trial at a hospital

Japan

Aichi Prefecture announced a trial at Kariya Memorial Hospital on October 29, 2025. Sahashi Special Steel and Shikibo planned to test a friction-grinding and drying process for used diapers.

The announced trial ran from November 7 to late January 2026. It was designed to examine equipment operation, durability and odour treatment, with part of the processed material used experimentally in products such as waste bins and bags.

The hospital setting makes the project relevant to adult-care waste. The release describes the trial plan; it does not provide completed results or prove that routine hospital-wide recycling had been established.
