Kamakura reports both recovery potential and practical limits in a diaper trial

Japan

Kamakura City’s October 2024 report describes a used-diaper separation and product-development trial involving hospital and nursery waste. Kurita handled separation, while TOPPAN examined the recovered materials and possible products.

The report documents sorting and contamination problems alongside the potential to recover pulp and plastics. It also identifies collection logistics, facilities and business economics as unresolved parts of a wider service.

This is a historical trial report, not a new 2026 result. Its hospital feedstock is relevant to adult-care disposal, but the mixed input and experimental conditions do not establish a recovery rate for all adult incontinence products.
