Shizuoka Prefecture announced an agreement with Fukuroi City on October 9, 2025 to jointly run a used-diaper resource-recovery trial. Collection was planned from hospitals, care facilities and nurseries, alongside household collection points.
The plan uses Kurita’s separation system to recover pulp and plastics. Local businesses would examine uses including cardboard and plastic products. A separate investigation concerns possible fuel use of material associated with the washing wastewater.
Adult-care facilities are explicitly part of the collection plan. Material recycling and fuel recovery are different routes; this announcement does not report completed trial yields or confirm commercial use of every recovered stream.
