India's Bureau of Indian Standards listed IS 19789:2026 / ISO 16021:2024 in an April 2026 Gazette notice. Its title describes basic principles for evaluating single-use adult products that absorb urine and/or faeces from the perspective of users and caregivers. The table identifies this as the first revision and gives 21 April 2026 as its establishment date.
The same table names IS/ISO 16021:2000 as the earlier standard and lists 21 October 2026 as its withdrawal date. That date is stated in the notice; this report has not checked for any subsequent notice affecting it.
The Gazette entry records the existence and timing of the revised standard. It does not itself say that every adult diaper sold in India must now carry a particular certification, that products under the older standard are banned from sale, or that any manufacturer's product has passed a performance test. Individual product claims require their own evidence.
