Ontex reports skin-irritation findings from its incontinence survey

Belgium Ontex

Ontex highlighted skin irritation in continence care in a July 7, 2026 release ahead of World Skin Health Day. Its research with Dynata, conducted in 2024–25 among more than 2,500 people, found that almost one in two people living with incontinence experienced dermatitis or skin irritation. The release separately cites clinical literature indicating that up to one in five incontinent patients develop skin damage in care settings.

Geriatrician Maria Panourgia of Milton Keynes University Hospital emphasised caregiver training and product design. Ontex connects the findings with its Sensitive range, describing absorption up to 2.5 times faster than previous designs, materials it calls hypoallergenic, and a zinc-oxide-containing topsheet. The company presents dryness and protection of the skin barrier as priorities alongside absorption, particularly for older, more fragile skin. It also discusses parallel demand in feminine care for pH-balanced and microbiome-friendly products, placing its adult-care designs within a broader focus on skin health.
