A study published on July 15, 2026, examined two MoliCare reusable underwear designs in 204 women with very light or light urinary incontinence. Participants were recruited in Germany in 2023 and randomly assigned to separate groups of 102. Each group tested one design at home for at least five days and then provided structured feedback.
Product A had an integrated absorbent core, while Product B combined washable underwear with interchangeable disposable pads. Overall satisfaction averaged 4.0 for A and 3.8 for B on a five-point scale. Both groups rated leakage protection and dryness positively. A received higher ratings for feeling like ordinary underwear and perceived environmental friendliness; B scored slightly higher for discretion and adequate absorbency.
The authors reported descriptive differences, without prespecified hypothesis testing between groups. They did not assess environmental impact or cost-effectiveness, or directly compare the products with disposable incontinence products. Paul Hartmann AG funded the study and employed all four authors. Research & Consulting GmbH was paid to conduct the home-use test.
