Essity's first-quarter report, released on April 23, 2026, reported group net sales of SEK 33,177 million, down 5.1% from a year earlier. Organic sales rose 0.4%, comprising 1.1% volume growth and a 0.7% negative price-and-mix effect. The adjusted EBITA margin increased to 13.9% from 13.5%, with higher volumes, lower costs of goods sold and pricing discipline supporting the gross margin.
The company reported under four new business areas for the first time. It said continued growth in incontinence products and feminine care helped Personal Care gain market share and deliver strong sales. Product launches included upgrades to parts of the North American TENA range, alongside developments in baby diapers, household towels and period pants. Essity also completed the acquisition of Edgewell's North American feminine-care business, consolidated from February 2, adding 1.1% to group net sales. Health & Medical and Professional Hygiene reported growth, while Consumer Tissue sales declined, partly because of lower private-label sales.
