Yuhan-Kimberly award announcement describes reusable incontinence underwear concept

South Korea Kimberly-Clark Depend

Yuhan-Kimberly announced on December 30, 2025, that it had received a Gyeonggi provincial governor's commendation for contributions to social innovation. The presentation took place on December 29 at an anniversary event for the Gyeonggi Social Economy Institute. Since 2024, the company has worked with four social-economy organisations through the institute's open-innovation programme, which helps partners develop products and services using larger companies' infrastructure, marketing and research resources.

One women's and seniors' health project involved social enterprise Miand. The partners combined Miand's design capabilities with absorption technology from Yuhan-Kimberly's Depend brand to develop an incontinence-underwear concept intended for repeated use. The company said they were considering a joint patent application. It described the collaboration's goals as reducing social withdrawal associated with urinary incontinence and improving quality of life. Another partnership produced paper clay from recycled hand towels. Yuhan-Kimberly said its wider open-innovation work, underway since 2019, was expanding into materials, digital health and new business models.
