Stage: Concept demonstration announcement
Asahi Kasei Microdevices announced on November 13, 2024 that it would show a batteryless smart-diaper concept at CES 2025, scheduled for January 7–10 in Las Vegas.
The company described using urine’s moisture as an electrolyte, two conductive materials as electrodes and power-management electronics to support sensing and Bluetooth Low Energy communication. This was a concept-demonstration announcement, not the release of a finished consumer or care-facility diaper. It precedes the company’s separate November 2025 announcement of an updated CES 2026 demonstration.
