ANSA reported on October 2, 2026 that a plant planned for a former incinerator site in Messina would treat separately collected absorbent hygiene products, including adult diapers.
The report gives a planned capacity of about 5,000 tonnes a year and describes recovery of plastic, cellulose and superabsorbent polymer. It concerns a construction and procurement project, not operating results. WDO rechecked ANSA’s report; the project organiser’s earlier notice returned an error, so an exact award date and actual processing output are not asserted.
