Stage: Pilot announcement
Obu City announced on December 17, 2024 a care-facility pilot of a urine-detection system developed by SUMINOE. The plan places a cloth sensor connected to a transmitter inside the diaper and compares its signals with actual urination records.
The announcement scheduled tests at one facility for December 18 and 20, and at another for late January 2025. It also identifies attachment and removal procedures as matters for staff feedback. This is an announcement of planned verification and operational testing, not a published result establishing effectiveness.
