A paper published in ACS Omega on February 24, 2025 examines how assembling SAP particles of different sizes affects early water uptake and absorption under pressure. The authors include researchers at the National University of Kaohsiung and Formosa Plastics.
The study uses fluorescence microscopy to investigate water movement through gaps between particles. The authors report that changing the particle mixture can alter uptake and pressure-dependent absorption in laboratory samples.
The work was funded by Formosa Plastics. It is a materials study, not a wearer trial or a finished adult-diaper launch. Measurements using water and specified pressure conditions must not be presented as practical urine capacity for a consumer product.
