BASF announced completion of a $19.2 million investment in its Freeport, Texas, superabsorbent-polymer operations on October 10, 2024. The project upgraded equipment and production processes, including rail logistics and asset reliability.
Superabsorbent polymers are materials used in absorbent hygiene products, including diapers and incontinence products. The release describes manufacturing infrastructure, rather than a new finished adult diaper.
The reported increase in throughput of up to 20 percent is BASF’s process claim. It does not mean adult-diaper absorbency increased by 20 percent, or establish adult-only output or the share of material supplied to adult-care products.
