BASF announced production startup at its Superabsorbents Excellence Center in Antwerp on October 26, 2023. The company described a €25 million investment in pilot-scale equipment for superabsorbent-polymer development.
The facility uses sensors and data collection to support work between product development and manufacturing scale-up. Its subject is absorbent material used across hygiene applications, rather than adult products alone.
This is an earlier manufacturing-technology development, published here as background. The centre is a pilot facility, not a newly announced commercial-volume factory, and the release does not identify adoption of a particular material in a finished adult diaper.
