TENA answers commonly searched pelvic-floor questions

United States Essity TENA

TENA published answers to women's frequently asked pelvic-floor questions on September 23, 2026, during Healthy Aging Month. The brand said it compiled questions women commonly put to AI tools and invited 3D movement specialist Zarina Del Mar to address three topics: strengthening the pelvic floor, relaxing a tight pelvic floor, and what pelvic-floor physical therapy involves.

Del Mar describes strength as the ability to respond to the body's needs, including both contraction and relaxation, rather than simply repeating large numbers of Kegel exercises. She explains how breathing, the deep core and movement work together. For relaxation, she discusses diaphragmatic breathing, gentle pelvic movement and releasing tension in the abdomen, hips and gluteal muscles.

Her explanation of physical therapy covers posture, breathing, movement, abdominal function and the hips, alongside assessment of pelvic-floor contraction and relaxation. Depending on symptoms, assessment and treatment may include an internal examination or manual therapy with consent. Persistent pain, pressure or difficulty relaxing should be assessed by a healthcare professional, she says.
