Brazil adds adult diaper form to e-SUS APS

Brazil

Brazil's Ministry of Health announced an update to the e-SUS APS electronic medical record system on July 21, 2026. Version 5.5.22 includes a template for requesting adult diapers, described in Portuguese as fraldas geriátricas, among new documents available to primary-care teams. An integrated calling panel also links patient calls to the appointment list.

The update renames the Citizen module as Individual Registration, incorporates the individual registration form into the electronic record and prioritises the CPF taxpayer number as an identifier to help prevent duplicate records. An interactive tutorial supports staff adapting to the changes.

Other functions organise prenatal and postnatal information, including records for twin pregnancies, consultations, examinations and vaccinations. Growth charts now accommodate premature children. Clinicians can renew prescriptions for continuously used medicines, and decision-support recommendations flag recorded allergies to suggested drugs. Access to simplified data collection is also extended to dental specialty centres. The ministry provides a link to the updated system for health managers and professionals.
