The municipality of Carapicuíba in Brazil's São Paulo state announced on September 2, 2026, that it had begun delivering free disposable diapers to the homes of people registered in its local programme. Previously, beneficiaries or their representatives had to collect the supplies from a health unit.
The city says the programme includes both infant and older-adult diapers. To qualify, users must live in Carapicuíba, be linked to one of its basic health units and provide the required documentation, including a medical report or certificate establishing need. The municipal health department assesses and follows up with beneficiaries. According to the announcement, the deliveries cover a three-month period of supply.
This is a change to one city's distribution method, not a new nationwide Brazilian benefit. The municipal notice does not give adult-only delivery totals or an estimate of the programme's effects.
