Chikuzen in Fukuoka Prefecture and six companies signed a used-diaper recycling agreement on July 15, 2025, according to a joint company announcement the following day. The municipality says its collection service had already started that April.
Collection includes households and facilities such as nurseries and care homes. Sorted diapers are taken to Total Care System’s Love Forest Omuta plant. The partners include Nippon Shokubai, Sumitomo Heavy Industries Environment, Daio Paper, TOPPAN and Livedo, alongside the recycler.
The announcement distinguishes this collection and processing arrangement from the partners’ aim to recycle all recovered materials. Collection targets and estimated carbon savings should not be read as achieved results.
