Unicharm announces an overnight Lifree pad for care facilities

Japan Unicharm Lifree

Unicharm announced Lifree Overnight Dry Pad SkinCondition Comfort Night on June 18, 2026, for a mid-June launch in Japanese hospitals and care facilities. The company says the product addresses leakage during prolonged nighttime use, particularly when changes in posture put pressure on the pad's side gathers.

The design combines three features. Barrier Side Gathers use a laminated film structure to limit liquid seepage when the wearer lies on their side or sits, while a moisture-permeable film allows humidity to escape. A shaped absorbent core around the legs applies insights from 3D scanning and origami engineering to follow the contours of older users' inner thighs and reduce gaps.

Unicharm also added antibacterial treatment to the skin-contact sheet, alongside antibacterial polymer inside the core. The release identifies inhibition of E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus growth at treated areas, rather than all bacteria. The professional-use range comprises Super packs of 45 pads, Ultra packs of 42 and Extra packs of 36, with open pricing.
