Unicharm announces a low-friction Lifree absorbent pad

Japan Unicharm Lifree

Unicharm announced a Lifree absorbent pad intended for use with tape-style diapers on March 24, 2026, with a nationwide Japanese launch scheduled for April 7. The design addresses rubbing and shear against the skin. At the rear, skin-facing part of the pad, a cover sheet slides over a low-friction sheet and follows body movement. Unicharm says this soft-veil structure reduces displacement and rubbing by about 30% compared with its previous product.

The pad also uses a two-layer W-dry structure: one sheet locks moisture inside, while another limits seepage from the pad. The company reports a 99% reduction in urine returning to the surface compared with its previous product. A wavy topsheet across the pad reduces contact area, which Unicharm says cuts sticking to the skin to about one-third of the previous level. The range includes a four-urination version in packs of 33 and a six-urination version in packs of 22, both with an open price.
