Unicharm announces an odor-control Lifree pad for pull-on pants

Japan Unicharm Lifree

Unicharm announced a Lifree odor-control absorbent pad for use inside disposable pull-on pants on March 24, 2026, with nationwide sales in Japan scheduled for April 7. The company says its research found dissatisfaction with odors during pad changes and after disposal. The product combines an activated-carbon sheet with an inner tape that keeps a used pad folded in half, addressing odor both during use and in the waste bin.

Unicharm attributes its 99% deodorization claim to the combined action of activated carbon and deodorizing superabsorbent polymer against ammonia, tested using a method based on ISO 17299-2. The carbon sheet adsorbs odor components through microscopic pores. After a change, the self-adhering tape holds the folded pad shut to limit odor spreading, according to the company. The release lists two absorbency options: approximately two urinations in packs of 30 or 44, and approximately four urinations in packs of 16 or 24. All versions have an open price.
